Last Minute Application Tips!. Grades and test ratings are crucial in the admission procedure; there is no doubt about that. But, while we want for pupils who possess challenged by themselves academically and who’ve performed well in school, we depend on the qualitative factors of the application to reach at a decision. At this point in the process, senior high school seniors should focus their attention in the presentation components of the application: the essay, short answers, extracurricular tasks, therefore the page of recommendation.

The Essay

The essay is really a student’s opportunity to reveal who they really are, maybe not just being a person but also as a pupil. The most successful essays are the most authentic essays. We are really to know who our applicants are. The most readily useful advice I will give to students is to ‘be your self’.

Short Answers

They are known as short answers, buuuut they shouldn’t be too quick of a response. The short email address details are taken very seriously within our review process. They provide us valuable understanding in to students’s academic interest also as their commitments outside of the classroom.

Extracurricular Strategies

We have been searching for students who will probably be active members regarding the USC community. I always suggest that students list any commitments they have outside of the classroom. Including clubs that are traditional sports, volunteer organizations, work experience etc. But inaddition it includes, non-traditional activities such as for example caring for siblings or other family users, productive hobbies like photography, marathon training or everest that is climbing.

Letter of suggestion

Students often feel they approach to write a letter of recommendation on their behalf like they do not have control over their letter of recommendations; yet, students do have control over whom. We require that at least one suggestion come from someone who can discuss the student’s academic character and potential (in other words. Teacher or counselor).
